This Privacy Policy explains what data the game The Agent ("the Game", "we") collects, why, and your choices. By using the Game you agree to this policy.
The Game is fully playable without signing in. In this mode your saves are stored only on your device and we do not collect any personal information.
If you choose to sign in (as a guest, with email, or with your Google account) to sync your progress across devices, we use Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. In that case we process:
This data is used only to provide sign-in, cloud save sync and leaderboards. Signing in is optional; you can keep playing locally instead.
On Android, the optional "Pro" upgrade is sold through Google Play Billing. Payment is handled entirely by Google — we never see your card or payment details. After a purchase, the app sends a purchase token to our server (Google Firebase Cloud Functions), which verifies it with Google and records a Pro entitlement on your account so it works on all your devices.
If you bought the Game on itch.io, you can enter your itch.io download key once. The key is sent to our server to verify your purchase with itch.io; on success, the same Pro entitlement is recorded on your account. To prevent key sharing, we store the itch.io ID of that key (not the key itself) linked to your account; this link is removed if you delete your account.
We do not sell your data and do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs. The data above is processed on our behalf by Google (Firebase, Google Play) as our service provider; to protect our servers from abuse, Firebase App Check (reCAPTCHA) may evaluate basic device and request signals. Purchase verification for itch.io keys is performed with itch.io. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Cloud data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated cloud data yourself at any time inside the Game: open the account / cloud save panel and choose "Delete account". This permanently removes your account, cloud saves, leaderboard entries and your Pro entitlement record. If you bought Pro on Google Play, you can restore it later on a new account with "Restore purchases".
If you can no longer access the Game, email us from your account's address (see Contact) and we will delete your account and data within 30 days. Local (on-device) saves are removed when you delete the app or clear its data. Purchase records kept by Google Play are governed by Google's own policy.
The Game is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Account and cloud data are handled through Google Firebase over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will change accordingly. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
